How Think Pair Share Supports Active Learning:

Think Pair Share supports active learning by engaging students in reflection, cooperative learning, and peer teaching. Taking the time to ask students to discuss an issue or to help each other understand a concept makes students more responsible for their own learning and the learning of their peers. Technology enhances think pair share activities by leaving a record of the learning activity for the rest of the class. This way, students not only benefit from interaction with a partner or small group but also from the interaction other groups had with each other.

The following activity also demonstrates three other useful strategies. Differentiated instruction is employed by providing four varied choices of questions to discuss and answer. Distributed learning occurs through use of the Google Form & Spreadsheet to collect and share group responses. And, while any of the tools demonstrated in this session could be used with a think pair share activity the tools we chose to use below address the proclivities of auditory learners.

Important Note: For conference bandwidth limitation issues please refrain from listening to question responses during this session.

(but we do want you to see how the Google Form fills out the spreadsheet in real time)
